Ever since I was a little girl I had a strong love for horses.  When I was 5 years old I had my first Shetland pony, "Mickey".  He was a feisty little fellow with a quirky sense of humour.  It was around that age that I got my first horse book, and the moment I saw the Arabian Horse featured, I was in love.  It was my dream since then to breed this magnificent, exotic, elegant horse.  Along the way I have picked up a solid knowledge and level of experience and understanding with horses - training my first horse at 9 years old, and many after that, as well as breeding quarter horses, paints, and horse rescue.  For several years I trained and sold horses and used the money to purchase horses in rescue situations, then devoted myself to getting them healthy, happy, and showing them people can be wonderful and loving.  When they were ready I would find them a good home, and do it all over again.  It was a lot of hard work but very rewarding, knowing I was saving these poor abused and neglected souls - many of which were about to be sent to slaughter houses.  Here is an example of one very lovely mare, the first picture is how she looked when I got her, the following pictures show her dramatic improvement with proper loving care:

"Shimmer" the day she arrived ...severely emaciated, dull coat, distended belly from worms and starvation.  Shimmer along with several hundred other horses (mostly yearlings and weanlings), were left in a stockyard for 3 1/2 weeks with no food.  Many had died, many had eaten each other's tails off trying to survive.  Shimmer thankfully was one of the survivors.

About 1 month later - you can see her coat glossing up and the swollen belly from worms and starvation is gone.  Unfortunately this poor PMU mare was allowed to get pregnant just 2 days after giving birth to a filly - one week before arriving at my home, so she had pregnancy to deal with as well.

Shimmer gave birth to a beautiful colt early spring.  You can see she is recovered and at a good healthy weight - just has her winter fur coat on.

Shimmer and her colt a few weeks later...

A very happy Shimmer, fully recovered and enjoying life.  I trained her western pleasure and she went to a wonderful loving home.  I wish I could save them all.

I never forgot my childhood dream - I felt that I was meant to do this first, to save as many horses as I could.  I always knew my Arabian horse program would fall into place when it was supposed to, and it has - through perseverance, sacrifice, research, dedication, and careful choices.   I have not let challenges and obstacles in life stop me from my dream - the love of the Arabian Horse.  My love and passion for these horses is so strong, I am often out in the middle of the night in my pj's giving them a hug and a kiss goodnight, or cuddling with them under the summer moonlight.  Or hopping up bareback and taking my special best friend stallion Jaybec out for  an exciting night ride.  What they have given me in return is far greater, to me they seem to have an almost mystical power to heal - whether it is a broken heart, or just a bad day, they always make it better with their intelligent, loving, and incredibly loyal friendship.

My daughter Amanda love the horses too, and gets a lot of enjoyment out of watching them play, or cantering over when they see you coming.  The foals are an absolute joy for us.  Amanda especially loves riding Lady - Amanda takes after her mom in that she prefers to get the bridle and then just hop on bareback and go for a ride, no constrictions from a saddle and the warmth of the horse's body directly touching your own.

I have made some very special friendships along the way, and met some truly wonderful people.  This has been an added benefit in sharing the love of the Arabian breed, and all horses.  I specialize in Straight Egyptian, but also continue to enjoy breeding Percentage Egyptian and Pinto-Arabian.  Please feel free to contact me at  julieangeleyesarabians@gmail.com or juliefluffyangels@gmail.com for inquiries.  Unfortunately internet is not very reliable so if you email me and don't hear back within a day or so, please call me and leave a detailed message at 519-216-5539, leaving me your name and phone number, and I will call you back within 24 hours.  Thank you.
